Please Help! We have a submersible system.. Only 5 yrs old.. (Originally pressure on system was high.. We lowered it which stopped the above ground pipes from bursting again there is no pressure valve to know exsctly the setting.) we have had air a while.. Not a huge conscern as we suspect our faulty arerator.. As it continually regenerates... Planned on repkacing as soon as we get money.. MAIN WORRY PUMP WILL NOT TURN OFF! Two days ago we noticed about half pressure in our home suddenly (thought it was ehole house filter but as before but we had forgot to replace last time do it was not clogged) hubby noticed pump was continually running.. At switch it can manually be turned off.. (Aka not melted together) we r having to unplug pump until we figure this out so it doesn't burn up (and idnt using all of thst electric which is HIGH here in lehigh acres, fl) ANYONE PLEASE ADVISE US! First troubleshoot so far:Hubby replaced check valve (when we only knew of air issue) by tank (as he is busy) working during daylight. He plans on pulling pump up soon but we have no idea! Any advise? Is well going dry and pump bad? Why is it not cutting off (only will with no electric)

There should be a pressure gauge. When the pump is running, what does the gauge read?

There is absolutley no gauge.. Ugh.. But it feels like holding steady at about no more than half the output than normal.. We had a HARD time lowering pressure before... Read a site to know.. don't know how to instal a gauge or if one can be temp set up... Hubby wants to attempt today!

I definitely can say a gauge would say its low.. It just will not turn off loss of pressure seemed sudden... We had air earlier this year we accounted to our defunct areator that keeps regenerarung and lack of check valve. Check valve by well tank is there now.

Do you have a bladder style pressure tank? It would be painted. If it is a galvanized tank, then different story, but assuming it’s a bladder tank, there is a little air valve at the top. You can use a tire pressure gauge and get a fairly accurate reading from there. It would be nice to know that reading. If it's low, then you think pump problem. If it's fairly high, say 30 to 50, then you might have a switch problem or something going on with the filter.

Well hubby found out answer.. The pipe right above the joint connecting pump to pipe had a very tiny crack in it! Removed/cut that part put a coupling in to reconnect pipe together let dry it worked perfectly! Like brand new! My father in law insited he now add that pressure gauge on.. Pressure was dead on.. (But remember earlier this year it had been set too high to the point pipes next to well burst) pressure is now high and so far seems clear of air.. (Despite the arrerator continually regenerates [running water] 24/7.. ) THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Oh indeed it was a bladder tank... I hope this helps the next person with this problem!
Still have that enclosed outdoor arrator regenerating 24/7.. Ugh I guess I need to submit a new thread! One problem fixed! I love this site!
