We have a hunter ceiling fan we absolutely love.. Trying to stay brief , I won't say
why we wish to remove the remote circuity and go to a chain system but we do. At least for the light. We never turn the fan off but obviously the light must go on and off. Lots of wires in there , which get snipped off and what gets used ?

Not that easy to convert. You will.need to identify the light hot and neutral leads and buy a pull chain switch. Then you will drill a hole in the light canopy to mount the switch, cut the wires and connect to the switch. You will also need to identify the light wires on the remote and disconnect. In some cases you may need to run a separate hot wire from the ceiling box.

Describe the wiring in the ceiling box and the wiring at the switch. How does the wall switch function at this time? You said you want to go to a pull chain system, do you really mean that or do you just want to be able to turn the light on and off manually?

The wiring in the ceiling box is 14 gauge 1 black , one white , one ground .
The wall box has one 14 gauge wire with the black line going in and out of the switch. The function of it turns of all power to ceiling fan .
I don't need a pull chain ,just a way to turn of light and leave fan running .

Hi Craig,

Sorry but with that wiring the only way is to install the pull chain as Brian described.
If you can and are willing to install another cable from the switch to the ceiling you can make it work with the wall switch. Or if there is an attic above and you can find another box in the ceiling you can pull a cable from there.

If there is a blue or black striped wire at the remote, that is probably your fan light wire. Unfortunately with some remotes, different colored wires are used. It is almost impossible to get wiring schematics for a fan. As I noted, it is not always easy to work around a remote fan controlled system. I guess I'm a bit confused why you don't just use the remote for light control.

There is an attic above which has plenty of wires .

Find an unswitched circuit in the attic. Cut and install a junction box. Run 14-2 cable from junction box to ceiling box for fan/light. Convert existing cable from ceiling box to switch to a switch loop. Remove remote and connect fan wiring to cable from junction box, connect light to switch loop. Or connect remote to cable from junction box. Find wire from remote to light kit and connect to switch loop.

coming out of light . I'll figure it out . There's a red ,yellow ,grey and pink.
The remote and its receiver are in the barn rotting. I love a project like this .
I wired the whole house 11 years ago and it hasn't burned down yet .
