    Question about shares (basic accounting)
    Turner Limited had 20,000 common shares on January 1, 2014. On April 1, 8,000 shares were repurchased. On August 31, 10,000 shares were issued.

    (a1) Calculate the number of shares outstanding at December 31, 2014.



    is it 20,000-8000+10000=22000?


    (a2) Calculate the weighted average number of shares for 2014.

    please help with this one, I'm not sure and I can't find a formula to figure this out

    (a2) Calculate the weighted average number of shares for 2014.

    20000 shares * 3 = 60000
    12000 shares * 5 = 60000
    22000 shares * 4 = 88000
    Total = 208000
    Average 208000/12 = 17333
