Thermostat not turning heat back on after reaching temperature
I have a gas powered package unit. When the thermostat calls for the heat to come on, I have to manually turn the thermostat off then back on before the heat will come on. When the thermostat turns off the heat it will not come back on until I turn it off and back on again.

By turning the stat off then back on, you could be resetting the control from some sort of fault. The next time it fails to come on, look at the control board on the furnace for a light giving you a blink code. On the furnace door or control board should be a key to the code.

What brand and model stat do you have, can you post a picture? What exactly are you doing to shut it off and to turn it on, does it have a mercury bubble?
