    Ceiling fan stopped working
I have a Hampton Bay 60 inch ceiling fan (Miramar) model with remote and light kit, it has worked fine since installed back in 2006. Tonight I heard a loud pop and all of the sudden the family room went dark. After turning the circuit breaker back on I observed that the fan and its lights stopped working. When I tried to put it on by activating the remote all you hear is a clicking sound and the fan blades move a bit. No lights are working on it and if you spin the blades to get them moving it makes no difference so I have ruled out the capacitor as the problem. there is electricity to the fan I am thinking it might be the remote receiver wired to the motor and the lights.

Well you have all winter to tinker with it... if you can't fix it by spring, buy a new one.
From where I sit, the cause I couldn't guess...
