    centrilobular emphysema
I've been diagnosed with centrilobular emphysema... in the upper lobes. Paraseptal bulla are present in the apices. Subpleural fibrosis is present in the posterior basilar segment of the right lower lobe.

Lymph nodes all within normal limits
Pulmonary nodules: no discrete pulmonary nodule
    Tracheobroncheaobronchial tree within normal limits
    Chest wall no focal lesion

Had a CT chest without contrast. This is the report from the radiologist.

I was a heavy smoker... female... 65 yrs old... quit 20 yrs ago... no shortness of breath or anything.

My doc says very small amt of emphysema present which shouldn't be a problem as long as I don't go back to smoking. Would like your second opinion.

Can't give you a second opinion on your medical diagnosis and tests, we are not doctors. Suggest you follow your doctor's recommendation and not smoke.

He basically said you have lung damage consistent with smoking. He also said that you're fine so long as you don't start smoking again.

Don't start smoking again and you should be fine. That is my NON-MEDICAL opinion from a programmer with a biology minor.

Thanks much for responding! As I said to Tickle, I thought I was writing in to an online Dr. Chat! You can be sure I won't start smoking again. MsScuttlebutt
