    Kenmore dryer 417.81142000 trips breaker
    Hi,
    Suddenly this dryer started tripping the breaker as soon as it's plugged in (there is continity on the terminal block between two of the wires). I followed advice on repairclinic.com, and checked the heating element which is fine. The next step is the drive motor. Is there a way to check this for a short? Any other ideas?

    Hi Rocky and welcome, A short like that should leave a visual mark, if you can't find one then hook the meter on the terminal block and watch it while you move wires around or unhook things like the lid switch, motor , timer... Good luck and let us know what you find, OK?

    Also check your cord with the meter.

    You will have to trace the short with an ohm meter. There is no other way. Unhook components from power before testing and read from the power terminals to ground and when you read about zero ohms, you have found the ground. Here are some books:
