Support Groups for Adults who find their biological parents
Hi I've searched a great deal today and then stumbled across this site, I'm hoping someone my have an answer or be able to point me in the right direction.

See I was recently contacted by my biological father that I've never met. My mother and he split shortly after I was born and while he knew about me we had never made contact up until a couple days ago. I'm very happy about this but at the same time I'm not entirely sure how to cope with this. That was what brought me to searching the web today and my current frustration. I see a lot of stuff for helping adoptee's but this isn't my situation as I grew up with my biological mother.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any online forums or mailing lists for people in my situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really don't have anyone to talk to about what I'm thinking and feeling right now.

Thank you for you time :)

I would say that after these years, he has either getting older and understands some regrets in life and wants to make up for part of it.

Next of course he may have found some "religion" and wants to do the right thing.

And of course he will never be a "father" since he was not there all those years, but he can be someone that you can become a friend with, and that is about all I would expect. A lot will depend on what he expects, and go from there. Yours is not unsual, but not one normally pushed by adoptee sites. I hope you find something, but remember your biggest support group should always be friends and family.
