Can a sex offender live with his children?
My boyfriend is going to have to register as a sex offender, because of a situation his friend put him in. Although he wasn't involved the district attorney is blaming him because of association with those who actually were involved. Have two young children together. Will my boyfriend be able to live with us? And also how longwould he have to register for? We have never been in a legal situation let alone something this serious. I have tried to contact my boyfriends attorney but since we are not legally married I am not allowed to be told what is going on in his case. Please help.

Laws vary by state, and by classification of the sexual offense. We might be able to tell you what the levels are in your state (or you can Google it), but we can't tell you what category he will be in, and what that means for you and your children.

Have you considered getting married, given that you have two children together?

And 2 counts of using a child
Sas display for sex (A felony)

Yes we actually got engaged before this situation occur so now our wedding is on hold..

    Hello f:

If he wasn't involved, he shouldn't have been convicted. So, I DON'T believe he wasn't. You shouldn't either. If children were involved in his crime, he won't be able to BE around children...

Seems to ME, that you wouldn't WANT him around your kids.. Yeah, I know you love him - but you love your kids too, doncha?

You didn't say what state this is, but it sounds serious, regardless of him 'just being in the room' or something. Display for sex? Pictures taken of two children in a sexual way? I suppose what the crime was doesn't matter for us, because this is a job for his lawyer to handle, and you will have to find out the particulars from your boyfriend when you can talk with him.

    He hasn't been convicted
Yet. They are accusing him by association with
Those who actually committed the crime. I have been doing a lot of research and well if he takes it to trial it's a 50/50. Obviously I love my kids. Just as much as he loves our kids. I know him and he would never do anything that he is being accused of. The girls who had sex with the people my boyfriend knew are 15 and 16. But legally they are still children. Sadly now my family is suffering because of someone who didn't care to ask how old the person they were daiting was.

First you said he was convicted, then not. I think you mean CHARGED?
Where did 'display' come in? Video that got passed around or put online?

    What does his lawyer say?
Can you afford to hire a private lawyer?
    When is the trial?
Can't he get out on bail? Does he have family who can take him in while out on bail, pending trial?

Ok, so reading between the lines, he was at a "party" with some friends. Two underage girls were at that party and they had sex with people there. The DA is charging all the men at the party, whether they actually had sex with the girls or not. The DA is taking a hard line because he believes that someone should have stepped up and stopped the sex.

Did I read it right? If so, there are several factors involved here. Like how many guys were at the party. Where did the girls come from? Did your boyfriend participate at all, even if it was just to watch?

No he just dropped off his friends at another friends house he didn't stay just drop them off. 2 girls and they were "daiting" my boyfriends friends.

Ok, so he transported minors to a place where they were raped (legally speaking). And his defense is he thought they were his friends dates and didn't know they minors.

His attorney is probably right, its 50/50. Depends on how good his attorney is, whether he can get good character witnesses and a sympathetic jury. On the other hand, even if convicted he will probably not be a high level offender and shouldn't be kept from his children.

So, he drove two friends to house and dropped them off..

IF that's the story after, two pages of trying to get it out of you, he's not guilty of anything. If his attorney is saying he only has a 50/50 shot at winning, hire another lawyer.

PS> (edited) So, I see your lawyer didn't say that.. YOU did. Where are you getting that from??? What is his lawyer saying? He DOES have a lawyer, doesn't he? The state will GIVE him one for free if he can't afford one. THAT is the guy who you should be asking these questions to.

No. But the DA is assuming my boyfriend knew that the girls his "friends" were daiting are underage. That is why he is being accused by association. Because he knew the guys. And dropped them off. Not the girls just the guys.

Did your boyfriend talk to the cops? Did he snitch on himself?

No we were actually out of town when the cops were involved. For what we know one of my boyfriends friend told the cops my boyfriend drove him and the other guy to a friend's house. Because the cops needed to do that whole time frame of what happened and so since my boyfriend drove them, he is being accused by association. Being accused of knowing the age of the minor. Because they were daiting his friends.

If your boyfriend didn't tell them, then there's NO WAY they can know what was in his mind and convict him of it.

    Where is his lawyer?
