    Bath Tub Valve
I need to shut off the water to my bath tub but cannot find the shut off valves that are by all the sinks & toilets in the house. Do tubs have those shut-off valves?

    Thanks!

There are two places you can find shutoffs for your tub and shower valve.
Sometimes we place them in a access panel located in the wall behind the tub drain and sometimes they're located behnd the face plate of the valve itself, (on single handled valves only). With the handle and plate removed look at ether side where the water enters. You will see two valves with screwdriver slots. Those shut off the water to the valve. Good luck, Tom

Perhaps your tub is like mine. The valves are there, but somebody drywalled over them rather than leaving the access panel. I never knew they were there until we found water dripping out if the ceiling when one started to leak. Two minutes to tighten the valve, hours and hours to repair the ceiling.

I am not sure whether it is the plumber's or the dry wall crew's responsibility to install access panels. The general contractor was certainly at fault. I do blame the plumbers for not getting it tight enough when they put the insides back in the valve after soldering it.

I have no shut offs on my tub/shower valves. If you don't either shut off the main water valve in your house. If you don't have one of those either then you may have to turn off the water at the street.
