I have a 2008 Troy Hilt Broncos. It makes a loud squeeling noise, backfire and motor dies when I engage the pro.

Somethig sounds to be locked up, or jamming the blades, or out of place. I would check belt routing first, then make sure blades will turn manually and idlers spin.
