    When did I conceive?
I had sex on Aug. 11 on the first day of my period with my boyfriend. He used a condom. Then we had sex again on Aug. 28. It was unprotected, so I took an emergency contraceptive pill within an hour. I got pregnant, but I had to get an abortion even though I really wanted to keep the baby due to physical complications. I am wondering how I got pregnant because we used precaution both times. Anyway, when did I conceive? After the first time we had sex or second time? Thank you so much for answering.

No form of birth control is 100% effective, except abstinence.

Um. You had unprotected sex on the 28th. Which should have just been you were ovulating. What could have happened, and this is all speculation after the fact, is that you ovulated before you had the Emergency Contraceptive Pill. By time the fertilized egg, 'cause he totally sexed you up, got to the implantation it was still viable and your uterine lining was as well. So implantation!

The moral of the story. If you don't want to get pregnant use at least one form of contraception DURING/BEFORE sex and don't rely on ECP.

No way to know when you conceived, that would be a guess, and not even a best guess because of the circumstances.

Why did you get pregnant? You had sex! Any time you have sex, even if you use protection, even if you take the morning after pill, pregnancy is possible. No form of contraception is 100%.

There are women on this site, and women I know in real life, that got pregnant using 3 forms of birth control. One of my friends has PCOD, only has one ovary, used the pill and a condom (both correctly) and she got pregnant twice.

There's only one way to avoid pregnancy, and that's to avoid sex.
