I used to teach 4th grade.

First, write the problem vertically (I had to add zeros in front to make the column straight) --

Add the column.

To the right of your answer, write down the number after the equals sign. Do they match? No. But you should now be able to figure out the missing numbers in the number after the equals sign and what the?? Number is in the column.
