    water leak under carpet.
I've found a water leak coming from under the carpet in the basement. It is right in front of the bathroom door, I'm not seeing any signs of a leak coming from the walls ceiling or bathroom. The carpet will randomly be sopping wet even when there isn't any water running in the house. We have not had any heavy rain falls or melting snow lately.

Plumbing in the slab? Most basements have water out of the slab but drains in the slab. Could be backed up water. Have a floor drain?

There is a drain in the utility room that backed up when the water softener regenerated. But the bathroom is in-between the utility room and where the carpet is wet. I vacuumed up the water a couple hours ago and it is soaking wet again and the softener hasn't cycled again between then and now
