How can I stop getting yeast infections every few weeks?
I am a 34 year old Woman that have been struggling with yeast infections since my early 20s. I feel like I get them WAY too often. At least every couple of months, sometimes more, sometimes less. I have tried many different treatments. I usually start with an otc cream based treatment, such as the 1-3 day Monostat treatments, sometimes the 3 days seam to work, but they mostly just help temporarily. Many times, my doctor has prescribed me a 1 day dose of Diflucan after the cream failed to work. This usually(but not every single time) has seamed to work. But at best for a few weeks, then anywhere form then, to maybe 2 months it comes back and I have to repeat! I have been trying some natural preventative options, such as acidophilus (mostly azo yeast) I have taken that almost every day for months now. It seams like it helps, but they still eventually come back. Sometimes I feel like they never really go away, and just tame down for a few weeks. It seams like a lot of the time I have intercourse, there is at least a little bit of a creamy presence, even when I think I don't have a yeast infection. I have been tested for all STDs a few times(since reading all the web pages about yeast infections mention STDs, it has had me paranoid, (Negative for everything). This has been going on for years. I just don't know what to do. Is there more that can be done with diet? Any other suggestions?
