I have mild lower abdomen cramps and when I went to the bathroom, after I peed I had something come out that looked like a mucus plus (it had a reddish/pinkish tint to it) but I'm not pregnant. I have very, very irregular periods (haven't had my period in 9 months). So could I finally be starting my period or am I ovulating? Btw I'm 17.

You can't lose your mucous plug if you aren't pregnant because mucous plugs only develop during pregnancy. It sounds as though this is just discharge and you are about to start your period.

I had a friend that went through her entire pregnancy not knowing she was pregnant, not until a month before she delivered.

You haven't had a period in 9 months? Are you sexually active? Have you taken a pregnancy test? If so, when was the last test you took? How do you know what a mucous plug looks like?
