You may need to replace the radiator, due to mineral build-up blocking the passages. Replace the radiator and refill with a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water; otherwise, buy premix.
Sounds to me like the impeller on the water pump is turning the wrong way, not circulating the coolant
Was it over heating before you did this work? It could be the radiator is bad or you could have a bad head gasket even.
Did you install the thermostat correctly? Was it an OEM thermostat?
