Umm yes I have a ? I had the iud insurted in me like 3 months ago and I have not had a period since and I feel like fludders in my belly and I had like brownish discharge a little while ago! Could I be Pregnant?:)

I Really Think You Should Take A Pregnancy Test Or Just Go To The Doctor. Anything Is Possiable. If You Are Pregnit You Want To Get That Iud Taken Out.

Correct me if I am wrong here, cause I have never had an IUD, but isn't that the whole idea behind the IUD? To no have a period?

You can get pregnant with an IUD, and no, kanicky73, they do not stop periods. An IUD is supposed to prevent pregnancy, but, as with all forms of birth control (other than abstinence), it is not 100% successful. I believe they claim it's 99% effective. I happened to get pregnant twice with two different kinds of IUD's.

First of all, if you haven't had a period in three months then I see no need to take a home pregnancy test because you should see a doctor anyhow. If you are pregnant they will probably remove the IUD as it can cause complications. You should know that if you are pregnant there is a risk that you will miscarry with the removal of the IUD but the risks of leaving it in are far greater so it is important that you seek medical advice very soon.

I also want to assure you that there is also the possibility that you won't miscarry. I carried one of my pregnancies to term after removal. The other spontaneously aborted with the IUD removal, but I was very early on and had only just had a baby 4 weeks prior.

So, I recommend that you make a doctor's appointment as soon as possible. Tell the receptionist that you believe that you are 3 or 4 months pregnant and have an IUD.

I did some checking and there are some IUD's that you do not have a period with. One of them is the Mirena. What kind of IUD do you have mommieof3?

Okay, I had my hysterectomy at 29 years of age, so I'm not thoroughly up to date on IUD's, but I would like to point out that the Mirena website states: "Within the first year of Mirena contraceptive use, women can expect a 90% reduction in menstrual bleeding. About 20% of Mirena birth control users experience no period at all after one year." It also states that missed periods, irregular bleeding and spotting are common side effects for the first 3 to 6 months.

Regardless, no, the whole idea of an IUD is not to stop periods, but to prevent pregnancy. As OP is feeling fluttering in her tummy and has had no period right from day one I think a professional opinion is in order. It IS possible, I admit, but I know I would be seeing the doctor. If nothing else, do a home pregnancy test.

I agree grammadidi, she should definetely go to the doctor.

Please see a doctor because if you do get pregnant you have a great risk for an ectopic pregnancy (tubal pregnancy) and if not diagnosed early enough it can be fatal.
I had major emergency surgery when I was younger, due to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy when I was sure I could not get pregnant
