    Tenants rights in Alabama
My landlord has exercised his 30-day right to terminate my lease. He says that I owe him for the full 30 days. Is this correct? Or can I prorate my rent from the 1st of the month to the last full day that I live on his premises?

    Thank you.

Are you month to month now... or do you have an unexpired long term lease?

Typically no... you don't get to pro-rate the last month if you get out before the month is up. Your time isn't actually up until the keys change hands and the walkthrough is done... and you do want to be there for that walkthrough.

I can't find any rule that requires a landlord in Alabama to pro rate.
