Why does my kitchen sink fill with water when my washer drains
I have a single story home built in 1961, and recently my kitchen sink drains slowly and when I run my washer which is in my garage, the water from the washer draining fills the kitchen sink. I have tried rodding out and running water down the vents for the washer and kitchen sink, with no joy. All other drains in both bathrooms run normally, and I looked in the clean out port in the main line outside and the main line is draining normally.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I will have to "assume" that the washer discharges near the kitchen sink. There is most likely a slight blockage after the washer connection in the drain of the house. A washer discharges a lot of water quickly, so if the drain line is blocked even slightly, it can cause water to back up very fast.

There are several cleaning methods and I would suggest that you check the drain line after the washer and before the main line

    Fixed it!

I bought the 25ft drill powered drain snake from harbor freight, and ran it down the kitchen sink drain, and everything is flowing again nicely.

I tried one of those bladder things that hooks up to a water hose, but the clog was after the drain vents, and it just caused water to be pushed up the drain vents and on to my roof.

    Thanks
