I have 2002 escape that when you put it in gear it won't move

What does it do? Have you checked your transmission fluid levels lately?

. Check the level and condition of the transmission fluid (color and smell). It should be pink, not brown or black, and it should not have a burnt smell. The pan should be dropped and cleaned, filter replaced, and transmission refilled with Mercon V ATF every 30,000 miles. If this has not been done, the clutch packs are likely shot. In this case, the transmission must be rebuilt or replaced.
