Hi my question is there any law that say that I can keep being the father of my child after finding out am not the father for 5 years I love my child and don't want to loose her this is what happen I took the mother of my child to court to demand visitation rights we had 2 court dates the first to petition the my visitation rights she was asked if she was sure I was the father she said yes they asked me the same question I said yes because I had no doubts so they granted me temporary visitations after on the next court day I was going to go to sign the paper with her so I can have full visitation rights she agreed to everything but when we got in front of the judge she requested a paternity test because she was not sure if I was the father after 5 year so not to make this longer DNA test came back that I was not the father I Don't WANT TO LOOSE MY CHILD IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO KEEP Seeing THE CHILD SHE IS Everything FOR ME

Were you married when the child was born? Are you on the birth certificate? If so you are the legal father, regardless of biology.

No I was not married to her we lived together when she got pregnant and yes my name is on the birth certificate I was there during labor. And am from chicago

Did you sign an acknowledgement of paternity?

You are probably the legal father. Until the court changes that you have the rights of any father. It seems doubtful that a successful challenge can be mounted. Though its possible. Again you need to consult an attorney.
