What will happen to me for shoplifting
I got caught shoplifting from walmart. Stupid yes I know, why did it, I don't know myself. Well once I got caught they totaled everything to be about $8. they took my id and info. They were nice and police were not called. They didn't even bring the manger back there. The man told me I could come back and if I saw them could talk to them, like a quick hello but if I know my friends were stealing that day or were there to not say anything to my friends. Once they were done listening to me after I explained why did it. They made me sign a paper and took my picture. But didn't say I was banned and that I could come back, just that they would be keeping an eye on me. This is my first offense and I'm 20. I have learned my lesson and that I hope my friends learn soon too. All I need to know is what will happen with the letter that they might send? And If I could go to court for this? I just don't want this on my record. Thank you for your time and help. If I pay the civil demand can they still take me to court? What would happen if I didn't pay? Also, because no police or mangers were involved and just the LP does that mean they decided to let me off with a warning? I know I was in the wrong and will do everything I can to make up for what I have done. I will never do it again

First, why would you not pay so that you don't end up paying any consequences for not paying?

I was just wondering cause I've seen a lot of people have said not to pay it.

If you don't pay, they can still press charges, why risk that.

They were being nice and you want to treat them badly. Get what you deserve from court then
