I recently had a water main break at my house and I fear my electrical may have been damaged. I tried using my washer and it keeps trippiing the breaker. Is it my washer or is it something to do with the wiring

How deep was the water... and what all got wet? I

The main break was in the cieiling in the basement, my tenant couldn't find the turn off and the water poured out for at least an hour... besides all the obvious getting soaked, wires must have gottten wet too.

Is the main breaker tripping or the washer breaker? If.the main breaker.it could indeed be a house wiring issue. If the washer breaker trips it is either wiring to the washer or the washer itself. Has everything been dried out?

Im not sure if it's the main or just the breaker for the washer tripping, a good question to ask thanks, and yes everything there has been dried up.

Is it the 100 amp breaker that shuts everything off or just the breaker for the washer.

You can have water inside a motor or in the controls of the washer. If it was wiring elsewhere it would be tripping without using the washing machine. You need to unplug it and look inside and make sure it is dry. If you see water around the motor you need to dry it and any capacitor out before running the machine. If it has run the motor any and the capacitor had water on the top between the wires it will burn up the motor in a split second as it also will if any is in the motor. I have seen a roach crawl across the capacitor terminals on an air conditioner and it fried the roach and the motor in one zap. Use a heat gun, space heater, or blow dryer to dry it out. You will need to take off the back, though, or turn it on its side to leave bottom open to air.
