I met this guy the other night at a bar, we were both quite sober, anyway we really hit it off, he introduced me to his friends and I introduced him to mine. Then we went back to my place, and he kept talking about what our kids would look like, and how he could see me in his bed everyday forever. He then asked for my number, and message me straight after he left, and then again the next night saying he'd love to catch up again. I told him I'd like that, but its been 3 days and I haven't heard back?

He was trying to get you to drag him into bed that night.
He's a guy who wants instant gratification (sex),not getting to know you. What your kids will look like? In his bed forever? Ugh. Those are lines he learned that are supposed to make you think he's husband material. Shallow and totally fake. I'm surprised you don't detect it too.

That's what I thought, but it was afterwards that he was saying all of that, and he also afterwards said he'd definitely see me again, and he has intiaited all of the text messages to me since

'Afterwards?? ' That's the sort of stuff you say months later, not a few hours later, or the next day. He found someone else who DID jump into bed right away. How do I know? I don't, but it's a good guess, from the way he talked.
Please - you don't meet guys in bars and bring them back to your place! This guy was nice compared to what the next one might be, because they assume that you want sex. You get his number. You call him while still standing there to make sure it isn't fake. Then you give him your number. Then you talk on the phone from home, and then you go out on a date - out in public.
There really are some good reasons for all those old fashioned traditions of getting to know someone.

Well he got what he wanted talked to you a day or two and moved on to the next one. This does not sound like good guy material to me. You guys had a hook up.
