How do you get rid of persistent hiccups?
My boyfriend has had the hiccups going on a week now. He has tried holding his breath, taking ant-acids,drinking pickle juice etc. Sometimes these work for a short time, but they return. Any suggestuions?

Hiccups are usually caused by an irritation of your diaphragm. This causes spasms which are hiccups.

Cures are almost as unique as the person having them. If they're persistent, you should look when they started and the cause. As far as I know, they need to go away on their own.
