I have a downstairs rental suite. Honeywell preset thermostat is upstairs. Is there some type of device that can make the upstairs thermostat come on or some type of temperature device that I can hook upstairs to let me know the temperature?

Does this have a multizon system installed or the more simple single zone?

There will naturally be a 3 to 5 degree Fahrenheit difference between upstairs and downstairs on a 2 level structure. More its it's a 3 level. Because for the natural tendency of warm air to rise and cold air to sink...

A bit less if you don't have an open stairwell.

It is a single zone system. This rental basement suite was added after the house was built. Just thought there might be some kind of temperature sensor that could somehow let me know the temperature in the basement. Is there such a thing as as something wireless? I am sure I am not the first person with this problem. You would think there would some type of device that would help resolve this.

Yes there is... easy enough to find in any hardware store, even Radio Shack... its like a mini weather station, with a remote sensor... you can place that sensor inside the house as easily as outside. Only downside it that typically has batteries that need replace once a year.

Here is one at Home Depot as an example... no frills wireles thermometer that does what you want for about $16 + tax.
