    If you have a written lease the landlord cannot increase the rent before the end of the lease unless the lease says they can.

    If you don't have a written lease the landlord must give you one rental period of notice. That means if you have a month-to-month lease the landlord must give you one month of notice. If you have a week-to-week lease the landlord must give you one week of notice.

    There is no limitation on the amount of the rent increase.
