    Chang or Chung
    Hi,
I have a painting. It's considered a seascape. I'm not sure how old it is, but it is on a cloth canvass that is stapled to a frame. That tells me that it isn't very old--maybe 1970's or 1980's. It has rickety old houses on stilts and small canoes ashore. There are some trees that don't look like ones that would be found near a large body of water, and in fact, they appear to actually be on the water. I think it's a beautiful painting, although it is probably not considered among the most beautiful like impressionist works.

I thought the signature read, "Chung," but when I went on-line, I couldn't find anyone by that name as an oil painter. I may have found one or two, but it was difficult to know who they were/are. I took a closer look, and realized that name might be "Chang."

Do you have any idea how I could i.d. the painting, find out how popular the artist is, and how much her/his paintings go for? I do know that there is an unwritten rule about the worth of art--it's whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

P.S. I was wondering about Alan Cote also. I saw one of his paintings, and remember how surprised I was to realize that it was actually a painting, not a print, which is what I find mostly. It is actually quite quaint.

    Thank you,

    Daffodile
