Can I change my contraceptive pill without consulting with my doctor?
I've started to take a contraceptive pill on the 5th day of my period as per my OB's advice. That was 2 days ago, September 10 to be exact, I've taken a brand with a name of Yasmine. But it caused an allergic reaction on the very first day I've took it, so I stopped and discontinued the second day pill.

I have no time to go to the OB for another consultation. Can I continue another brand as soon as possible? I've taken a brand name Diane before and that brand worked good without side effect. Can I proceed with that brand as soon as possible? I have no sexual contact with my husband since the first pill (Yasmine) was taken and discontinued.

If its okay to continue with the Diane pills, how should I take it? Am I going to start with the first pill?

I think you should report the side effects to your original OB/Gyn. And your intentions and actions before you change back to what you had before.

Why did you change from your original BC before? Why is there no time to consult with him again?

Since you stopped taking that brand, you need to wait till next period and start new pack at correct time.

Since most oral contraception is by prescription, then no, you can't just change.

Here's some info about Diane: Diane 35 birth control pill It is only available by prescription and its not legal everywhere.
