Last week, I heard something odd under the hood of my '99 dodge intrepid.
I took my car in and the mechanic said that one of my fans was going, that he would be replacing both fans, as they come together as a set. Got the car back and it was running very warm. Turned the heater on to get home without overheating. They towed the car in and said it was likely an air bubble in the coolant, they flushed it and I picked it up. Running warm again, used the heater to drive the car back in without overheating. In the meantime, lost control of my heater/ac panel -- they said that was the resistor, which had to be replaced. With regard to the overheating, they said my radiator was dirty and they cleaned it out. I have had the car back for a few days. The temperature gage is all over the place, not above middle, but real close the other day. Low if I am driving fast, creeps up higher when I am driving slower, lower if I turn the heat on. I am afraid that the only thing keeping it from overheating right is the colder weather. Sunday was hot and the gage was rising, but I was home by the time it might have gone higher. The fans seem to turn on more often too.
