I have a pacific hydrostar pump that now only hums. What gives?
I have a Pacific Hydrostar smaller pump that I use to remove the dirty water from a backyard water feature, 5'x4'. The pump worked fine for a few months, but now it only hums... not pump. It's a $60 pump from Harbor Freight, but I really thought it would work for the occasional time I used it for one season. If it's hopeless, does anyone have a suggestion for a better pump. By the way, the Pacific Hydrostar pump does not fit a standard garden hose. No threads on the pump at all. I had to jury rig the connection to the hose. Pitiful.

HELP! I need the pump asap. Thanks.

It sounds to me like the impeller is stick. F you can take it apart see what is holding the impeller from turning. It is probably clogged.
