Finger nail pulling away from nail bed
In the past month, I have one nail on my right hand that is pulling away from the nail bed. This is quite painful and makes me feel the nail is going to fall off.
However, it seems to be loose only on one side and the back of the nail seems to be secure. I do have acrylic nails and have had for years. There does not seem to be any fungus as the nail is clear in appearance. What can I do or whom should I consult to get help with this problem?

It could be onycholysis or some other problem. If there is no red puffiness then it MIGHT not be paronychia. You would have to get a blood test for one thing for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

When a nail is destined to fall off it doesn't just fall off. It will "hang" onto the skin, and it can take weeks before it comes off completely. Yes, it is painful.

There are many reasons a nail comes off. If you slam it in a door, hit with a nail, or have some other trauma to it, it can fall of. If there is infection it can fall off. We can't tell you why it's coming off based on what you posted.

You'll need to see a doctor about this.
