Standing water in sump pump pit
Just bought house in Staten Island. There is about 6" or more of standing water in sump pump pit. Had plumber install a new sump pump. He pumped water out and said new water came "rushing" in (his word not mine). Also, standing water is leaving a musty smell in the house. What does this mean and does anything else need to be done?

    Hi Jay and welcome.
More details please. When the water pump it out.) "rushed in" did the plumber pump it out or did he leave it standing? When you pull up on the flow does the pump start?
Have you got electricity to the pump? Back to you, Tom
