Dad(on visitors visa) had heart attack. Will insurance be covered for this??
My dad came to U.S. on 7 May 2013. He had an Heart attack on 28th Aug 2013.
He was taken to the Emergency room and a procedure called ''Catherization" was done on the same day. He is still in a very very critical condition and we are not sure if he could make it out of the hospital

1st Problem is will Heart attack be covered under insurance or it'll be considered as a pre existing condition considering that a Heart Attack or a block in an artery cannot happen overnight.

Insurance details : The First Health Network PPO-IMG
Note: IMG - International Medical Group

2nd Problem is the date of purchase of the insurance and the hospitalization date are the same 28th of Aug 2013.

3rd Problem is I'm not working , no money (I'm in H4). So we gave my husband's SSN and details while admitting my dad in hospital. My husband is not in good terms with my parents. So he thinks it is bull to waste money on my dad.
I'm really not in a situation to pay the money without Insurance coverage. At least I could arrange the 10% money some how if its covered under insurance from friends.
Please please help me help me...

Right off the bat giving the wrong SSN for your father to try and pretend he is a covered party... is Insurance fraud.

But its possible I read that incorrectly.

I don't see how you father would be covered by you husbands insurance... he's only visiting. You really need to see the specifics for your policy to know if there is even a slim chance he might be covered. I think its highly unlikely, he is.

You committed insurance fraud by providing your husband's SSN. This is a criminal offense and the cost of this hospitalization could be the least of your worries.

Most hospitals have funds available to help in situations like this. You should have asked to talk to a case worker who would have helped to find ways to help you work with the costs.

I forgot to add that the insurance company WILL find out that you provided the wrong information.

Trust me, my former life was a paralegal in and insurance fraud law firm.

Most likely even if the insurance company would have covered it, providing the wrong info, will void coverage at that point ( at the least, if they do not involve the police)

Also coverage is normally not binding the day purchased, (day it is paid for) Was agent present at purchase ? Was this bought internet ? If so, his being in hosptial at day of purchase will normally not be covered either

You are confusing. Why or who did you give your husband's information to? Did you give the SSN to the hospital claiming it to be your father's information?

Okay that makes more sense. From your first post it sounded like your father was admitted under your husband's information. That would be insurance fraud.

Unfortunately, the insurance that was purchased on the date of your father's admission to the hospital will most likely not cover the costs of this hospitalization. However, the hospitals do have funds and charities in place to help offset these costs. You will have to ask to talk to one of the case managers of the hospital to plead your case. They can help you find the funds to cover this.

Hi can I ask the Case management now (ie when my dad is still in the hospital getting treated) or when the hospital sends the bill to us after getting bounced from the insurance...
