If you have been sexually active and are late, then yes, you should test. From what you have described, you may not have had a period last month either, and you really need to take an HPT as soon as possible, so that you have a full range of option available to you.

Test using first morning urine. If the test is negative you may want to consider a blood test at your doctors office, it's a bit more accurate, and a bit more fool proof than an at home test. False negatives are very common with at home tests.
