High pitched metal on metal sound while dryer is on, too heavy to throw out door on my own so option B is to fix it... any suggestions?

If you buy a new one most places haul the old one away for you when they deliver the new one.

Drum roller bearings, rear support bearing.

The other posts are exactly right. You need to clean it and replace the bearings and use white lithium grease. Take it totally apart when you clean it and don't miss anything. Wash out the individual air ducts, too.
