    How else are we to suggest telling her, other then to say 'just tell her'. You just say that sis says I need a bra. There is a time for everything, and only you know your family dynamics.

    What language does she speak? You must also speak that language -- yes or no?

    Speak to her in whatever language she understands. I'm sure she'll notice that her pads are disappearing very quickly. Go shopping with her for pads and a bra at the same time.

    How old are you ? You just tell her you started having a period, girls all do that.

    As for the bra, that should be obvious, you just talk with her.

    She is your mom, I assume you and her speak the same language.

    Why so? She was only asking what language you speak. Why is that a problem for you?

    You don't get to choose who answers,

    You has said in your first post, "btw she doesn't understand English so what do I do," so I wondered too if there is a language problem, that you and she cannot communicate very well because of that.

    I'm sure she will notice the missing pads, and know you have started your period. If you find that it's necessary to tell her, maybe tell her in a different way, other than the obvious. Maybe just say something like, hey mom- we're almost out of pads- can you pick some up.

    As to the bra. This is a stickler for many girls your age. When you need a bra, it is such a private and personal thing, and difficult to talk about to anybody. But, you will need to find a way to tell her that you need to buy a bra. Once you actually get the words out, the rest will be much easier.

    She may be waiting for you to say something, as I doubt she hasn't noticed that you do need one.

    You might want to check out, online, how to measure for the right size, in order to give you some idea of what you need to buy. Then visit a Sears or some similar store, and try on several brands; they don't always fit the same way.

    And maybe go about it in a bit more creative way. Suggest to your mom that the two of you head out to get bras, and maybe go for lunch afterward together.

    Good luck.

    How very rude! We can't always answer a question right off the bat. Sometimes we have to ask for more information to help.

    Frankly, I have to wonder when a daughter can't just go to her mother and say that she started her period and needs pads and that her breasts are starting to grow so can we go shopping for bras. What's so difficult?

    Who taught you about periods anyway? If your mom did (as is usual) then she understands and is probably waiting for you to tell her. Or why not get your sister to help you talk to her?

    {I've merged your two threads}
