    88 Cavalier Cranks won't start
1988 Cavalier 2.0L---car ran fine---went to start---turns over, won't start; no smell of gas---is it the fuel pump?

    Steps I would follow:

. Turn key to ON and listen for the whine of the fuel pump in the gas tank.
. Does check engine light come on and then go off, when ignition switch is turned to ON?
    . Check for codes.
. Check all under-hood and under-dash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

. Make sure spark plugs (ACDelco only) are relatively new.
. Make sure fuel filter has been replaced not too long ago.
    . Replace igniter:

FYI for anyone else that might encounter this; I finally had to take it in to the garage, the ECM needs replacing (not a big surprise) but also the Crank Sensor to the tune of $600. Arrgh...hate cars.
