I'm 13 and a half years old. I'm 4 foot 10 inches. Is this short? About how tall will I be when I stop growing?

Well, my mom is 5"1 and my dad is 5"8.
And also many people at my school are taller than me. Even people who are younger like 11 or 12 year olds are taller than me.

School is starting this Tuesday and I'm worried my classmates will have grown big and tall over the summer. I'm a girl going into eighth grade. I'm 4"10 and I haven't grown at all this entire summer, maybe half a millimeter.

I just talked to my friend on the phone yesterday, 11 months younger than me, so shes still 12 turning 13 soon and she said shes 5"6? Before summer she looked 5"2. Maybe she had a growth sprout or something. And another day, I was back to school shopping and I happened to see one of my classmates who is also my friend. It was nice seeing here there and she looked EXTREAMLY tall. She looked like she was 5"7! I'm only 4"10. :( I'm scared I'm going to be the shortest in the class. I don't think I can grow much in just 5 days, can I?

I realize that at your age so many things seem super important, but this is just silly beyond silly. 4' 10 is nothing. I'm short. Never bothered me my whole life, and I'm 66 (in fact I'm getting shorter, as most old people do).
Pre teens and teens grow in spurts and all at different times. Imagine the poor boys, who have much more of an image problem than girls do. No one thinks twice about a short girl.
And lastly, you still have plenty of time to grow more. Let it happen.
Life has so many more things to worry about...

You have plenty of years to grow. Focus on school and friendships and your growth will take care of itself. Being a short girls is not that big a deal.

Guys love short girls! It makes them feel protective.

You do not realize how many girls are envious of short girls.

Many guys like short girls... it's a fact.

You may feel that being short now will hold you back somehow but you'll be fine.

My daughter is short and I tell her this all the time.

I'll bet those taller girls wish they were short
