    Hormones low
I am eight weeks pregnant and I got a call this morning saying that my hormones are low but since I had an ultrasound and the heart beat was 151 that things were OK but they just wanted to make sure and give me meds to be on the save side. Why are they low. I really just need some help.

It is rarely known why the levels are low. You have a good heartbeat, just continue to follow your doctor's plan of care.

That is really helpful. Just last year I didn't start my period for four months and come to find out I was not pregnant but I had a UTI. They had told my mother in-law something different and she explained in the vehicle that I might have had a miscarriage or a tube pregnancy. I didn't tell my husband for a year and this was before we got married. I am now eight weeks pregnant since I didn't have a normal period in June. I had missed for eight days and then all of a sudden I had a for day period so I really didn't think I was pregnant, I just thought I was gaining weight. Then come to find out in July I didn't have a period at all and this time the test came out positive =D. My husband and I were so happy and excited since we have been trying for about nine months. I went in and got checked out and come to find out the obgyn doctor thought I was three months and we were like what? She did a blood test and other stuff. That was last Monday. Then on this past Friday I went in and had an ultrasound and the doctor there said that the baby was fine and the heart beat was 151 and we got to see the baby and the heart beat. I about cried because it was amazing to see. I got a paper on Thursday just telling me how many times a day I need to eat and stuff. Like every two hours and I have. I woke up this morning at 10:30 and around 10:40 I got a phone call from my obgyn saying that my hormones were low. Not that you could see it when you pee or anything just that they want the level up to a six. They asked me about the ultrasound and I told them and they said that everything should be fine they just want to make sure that it stays that way. I have been eating things to get my level up all day long, every two hours and my three normal meals ( Breakfest, Lunch, Dinner). I am just wondering if I need to worry about anything? Just I really don't want this baby to die or anything like that. I have been taking my prenatals as well. Just as long as I am not bleeding that I should be fine. I just need to go pick up my meds

There is nothing you can do to get those levels up. The hormone that is produced during pregnancy, hcg, is produced, to make it easy to understand, by the fertilized egg and the placenta. This is a natural occurrence an there is nothing you can do to change that.

The levels change depending on where you are in your pregnancy. At 8 weeks your levels should be somewhere between 12,000 mlU/mL to 270,000 mlU/mL. So, you see, that is a huge jump in numbers. It will be different for every woman and for every pregnancy. As long as it is in that range, things should be okay.

Since the heartbeat is in the normal range. Things sound okay this far.
