Working on my fathers john deere lawn mower model 175 hydro with a kawasaki eng. FC420V061549 . Curently it will not start I have checked to see if it has fire to the plug, I put a screw driver in spark plug wire and place it close to a metal ground it has a very little arcing and with the spark plug it won't arc at all even with a new plug. I have also replaced the coil with no change. Any help would be appreciate.

Do you have the one piece ignition or the two piece ignition with an igniter(little silver rectangular piece on right side of engine)? My guess is the latter and the igniter must be replaced(it fails more often tan the coil.) An even bettet solution is to replace the two piece with the one piece if you have a newer engine(you did not furnish the numbers to tell - ?S01)
