Running multiple lights on parrell circuit coming form a dimmer switch , the new lights cut off shorty after coming on. Is the switch suppling enough current.or not? Old lights or recessed light and new lights or small floods.
Are you using recessed lights in the circuit now? Are the new recessed lights marked with an "IC" on their labels?
The "IC" stands for "In contact with Insulation". If your lights do not have the "IC" then you have to provide a 3" border around the lights to keep the insulation away from them. What will happen is that the lights operate properly for while, then when the temperature climbs, the heat from the light will cause a thermal sensor to open and shut the light down.
Once the heat dissipates, the sensor will allow the light to come on again.
Basic dimmers are rated at 600 watts. What load are you running?
