    Electric water heater.
There is no hot water in house. What could be the issue?

    Hi Joanna6

First thing is to check fuses/breakers... make sure they have not blown or tripped.

If that fails to resolve the issue then you need to remove the top access panel on the front of the water heater and push the RED RESET button (see image) on the upper thermostat... should hear an audible "click" when pushed. Shutting power off at the fuse/breaker BEFORE pushing the reset button is STRONGLY recommended, but remember to restore power after resetting the reset button or you will obviously not get any hot water!

That should restore your hot water, but it is probably only a temporary solution and you can expect this to happen again. Try the above and then, if it happens again, contact your local plumber to have him pop over and decide if the thermostats or the element(s) need to be replaced, OK?

    Good luck!

Mark is assuming you have an electric water heater.

No assumptions here, Harold... check out the title of the question, "Electric water heater"... ;)

My bad. Didn't remember to read the title. Of course if Joan titles her post Electric Water Heater it's a pretty good bet she has an electric water heater.
