I saw a home built in 1979 that had light switches 24" from the floor. Why?
My husband and I are shopping for a new home. We recently viewed one in Colorado (Arapahoe County) that has the light switches (not the outlets- they seem properly installed) installed only 24 inches from the floor. The home was built in 1979 and we are wondering why on earth the switches would be that low? Isn't that a code violation? Has anyone else every seen that before?

Probably specially built for a semi quadriplegic (some use of hands but not arms) or a short adult. Even an assistance dog.

No height stipulation, no code violation unless local. Yes, I have seen it in a house built for wheelchair handicapped person..
