I may have been 5 or 6 years old.I was sleeping at my grandmother's house.I dreamt that I had woken up in the room,it was pitch black. I saw a dark figure on the other side of the room it really freaked me out. I tride to turn my lamp on but I either couldn't reach it or it wasn't there. I tried to run to the door but it was locked. The dark figure just stood there making no sounds. I had that dream every few months. It lasted for at least a year and a half

You could have been lucid dreaming, you could have been seeing a shadow figure

So this was a dream? Why worry about it? Sounds like it is over with.

When I was a kid, I used to have a horror dream that I would get a few times a month. I finally told someone about it and it stopped for whatever reason. I never thought about it again until just now.

Unless this is still actively going on, I wouldn't worry about it. It most likely was just a dream... or it could have been brought on by an actual entity... either way, you're fine now, right?
