Old bathtub spout will not come off
I have a 27 year old spout that is corroded and needs replacing. It has a set screw on the side which a flat head screwdriver can fit in. The dang screw will not budge. I have even tried a drill. I have sprayed on WD40 and Kaboom (which dissolves hard water buildup). It is stuck on there. Any suggestions? I am a single gal and do not have the tools or the know-how to try to saw the thing off. Is there anything else I can try?

The last resort is to saw but since you drilled the screw may be the only solution. Post a picture and we will try to help.

Ok I may have figured it out: http://s6.postimg.org/5muy04zhd/004.jpg The drill didn't damage the screw, the problem is it won't turn... whatsoever. If I need to get my dad in here with a saw, can you give me instructions for what he should do? Thanks!

Get a hammer and a fair size nail. Put the nail on the X and give a good whack. That will put a dent so that your drill bit will stay in place when you start to drill.
Drill a small hole, about 1/2 inch deep. Start with about a 1/8 drill bit. Drill the hole a little bit toward the wall.

The get a larger bit (about 1/4") and make the hole bigger. Then do it again. Eventually you will have drilled the screw away and you should be able to remove the spout.
