    Shoulder
My shoulder is swollen. I play softball, I have since I was 3. I had a collision at home plate because I am a catcher but I don't know if that's how it happened. I noticed some pain a couple of weeks ago and showed mom and she noticed it was swollen pretty bad. It often hurts so bad y thumb hurts and whole arm goes numb... I can't lift it over my head or straight out any direction.. I have a doctors appointment next week but wanted to ask to get and idea of what it could be

No idea. Could be strain/sprain muscle. Nerve damage. Rare east African virus mutated and spread via a small unassuming though strangely violent monkey. Your guess is as good as ours, though the visit to the doctor you have planned is a good first step. Though why did you wait a few weeks before making the appointment?

To see if the swelling would go down after icing it or the pain would decrease

If the swelling doesn't go down in a few DAYS then maybe... but a few weeks?

Done is done. The best you can do is wait for the appointment and try to rest it.
