Are you on city water or is this well water?
Hi Possum
Do you have a garbage disposal connected to your sink, and does the dishwasher (DW) make a direct connection to it under the sink? If you have a disposal and the DW connects to it then I suspect that either the DW discharge hose has fallen to a place below the disposal connection for the DW allowing sink water to drain into your DW, OR your kitchen sink drain line is getting blocked and the dirty water is falling into your DW.
Check into this and post back with results, OK?

Mark,
Don't understand.
Operative word being sink.Quote:

Possum,
Are you leaving these thing in water in the sink or is contaminated water appearing over night?
I have to say that I don't understand either : If the water is sitting in the sink all night with the stopper in the drain it would have to be that the water itself or something in the sink is causing the problem.Could it be that something is attacking the metal utensils .If it was dirty water from the dish washer, the dish washer would have to be running for water to come into the sink.
Yup... not sure why, but for some reason I thought this was about dirty water in a dishwasher. Ignore my post above! Thanks guys!
OK guys, we use city water, and do not have a garbage disposal or even a dish washer in our house
OK,
Are you leaving the dishes sitting in water or is the water appearing over night?
Are you in an individual house or are you in an apartment with someone living above you?
