    Trip suddenly canceled
So we were going to go to my aunt’s birthday. Her husband had gotten hit by a semi trying to move a tree. So like I said we were going to go down there for her big 70th and I was really excited (I think I was the most excited out of me and my brothers). My dad wasn't going to go because he just had surgery on his shoulder and he doesn't really like traveling anyway.

Well last night my mom and I were going into town and I asked her, "What day is Aunt Dar's birthday?" and she said, "The 25th but we aren't going." I felt like I was torn in two! I asked, "why not?" and she said," because me and your dad discussed it last night and he said he doesn't want you guys missing out on that much school." I said," but we'd only miss like 5 days and I could help the boys with their homework and I could finish all mine!" She said the answer is no we can go down a different time like spring or summer vacation. I thought it’s not the same though.
So I guess I am asking how can I feel less heavy or help my parents to believe that I could help with homework and stuff. And we live in Michigan

Sorry -- I meant where does your aunt live? (Why is this in Missing Persons?)

Your dad just had surgery and doesn't want to go. Your mom doesn't want to drive that distance alone with kids in the car. School will start soon. I'm guessing your parents are looking at all the angles and of course their decision is final. I can't think of one reason to argue against it.

My mom would drive with my uncle, it's the 25 of September, and is there anyway for me to get over it?
I have never ever been out of Michigan before so this would be really exciting and fun for me and my brothers.

Try making a little daily journal to give to her when you see her. Include a card for her birthday, missing you, holidays, write little stories about things you remember that involved her. If you can call her or mail her something that's nice too.

You could talk to the school counselor because there are things set up for kids that take family trips.
